Barry Eichengreen

Barry Eichengreen is the George C. Pardee and Helen N. Pardee Professor of Economics and Professor of Political Science at the University of California, Berkeley, where he has taught since 1987. He is a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research (Cambridge, Massachusetts) and Research Fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (London, England).

Niall Ferguson

Niall Ferguson, MA, D.Phil., is a British historian who specialises in financial and economic history as well as the history of colonialism. He is the Laurence A. Tisch Professor of History at Harvard University and the William Ziegler Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School. He was educated at the private Glasgow Academy in Scotland, and at Magdalen College, Oxford. He is best known outside academia for his revisionist views rehabilitating imperialism and colonialism; within academia, his championing of counterfactual history is a subject of some considerable controversy. Niall is the Laurence A. Tisch Professor of History at Harvard University and William Ziegler Professor at Harvard Business School. He is a resident faculty member of the Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies. He is also a Senior Research Fellow of Jesus College, Oxford University, and a Senior Fellow of the Hoover Institution, Stanford University. He is the author of several books, most recently The Ascent of Money.

Thomas P.M. Barnett

Thomas P.M. Barnett is a strategic planner who has worked in national security affairs since the end of the Cold War and has operated his own consulting practice (Barnett Consulting) since 1998. Tom currently serves as Senior Managing Director of Enterra Solutions, LLC, a strategic advisory and technology firm. There, he has partnered with CEO Stephen DeAngelis in pioneering a new approach to emerging market infrastructure development known as Development-in-a-Box™. Dr. Barnett is best known as the author of The Pentagon's New Map: War and Peace in the Twenty-First Century (New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 2004), Blueprint for Action: A Future Worth Creating (2005), and Great Powers: America and the World After Bush (2009).

Amity Shlaes

Amity Shlaes is a syndicated columnist for Bloomberg and a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations. In addition to writing on political economy, she writes on taxes. She is a contributor to Marketplace, the public radio show. She has appeared on numerous radio and television shows over the years. Miss Shlaes was formerly a columnist for the Financial Times and, before that a member of the editorial board of the Wall Street Journal, specializing in economics. She is the author of The Forgotten Man: A History of the Great Depression, The Greedy Hand (Random House/Harvest paperback), a national bestseller on America's experience with its tax code. She is also the author of Germany: The Empire Within (Farrar, Straus), a book about German national identity. Amity Shlaes is a trustee of the American Institute in Contemporary German Studies; she sits on the jury for the American Academy's fellows as well as the jury for the Bastiat Prize.

Walter Russell Meade

Walter Russell Mead is the Henry A. Kissinger senior fellow for U.S. foreign policy at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) and one of the country’s leading students of American foreign policy. Mr. Mead’s chief intellectual interests involve the rise and development of a liberal, capitalist world order based on the economic, social, and military power of the United States and its closest allies. He is interested in the implications of this evolving world order for American foreign policy and for American and international society. He has published the acclaimed God and Gold: Britain, America, and the Making of the Modern World (Vintage) and Special Providence: American Foreign Policy and How It Changed the World.

Benn Steil

Dr. Benn Steil is senior fellow and director of international economics at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) in New York. He is also the founding editor of International Finance, a top scholarly (ISI-accredited) economics journal, as well as a co-founder and managing member of Efficient Frontiers LLC, a markets consultancy. From 2002 to 2006 he was also a nonexecutive director of the virt-x securities exchange in London (now part of the Swiss Exchange). Prior to his joining CFR in 1999, he was director of the International Economics Programme at the Royal Institute of International Affairs in London. He came to the Institute in 1992 from a Lloyd’s of London Tercentenary Research Fellowship at Nuffield College, Oxford, where he received his MPhil and DPhil in Economics. He also holds a BSc in economics summa cum laude from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
His newest book, Money, Markets and Sovereignty, was published by Yale University Press in February 2009.

Bjørn Lomborg

Bjørn Lomborg is adjunct professor at the Copenhagen Business School. He is the organizer of the Copenhagen Consensus Center, which brings together some of the world's top economists, including 5 Nobel laureates, to set priorities for the world. Time magazine named Lomborg one of the world's 100 most influential people in 2004. In 2008 he was named "one of the 50 people who could save the planet" by the UK Guardian; "one of the top 100 public intellectuals" by Foreign Policy and Prospect magazine; and "one of the world's 75 most influential people of the 21st century" by Esquire. He has published The Skeptical Environmentalist and Cool It.
